PLEASE SAVE RIVER PAMPA/PAMBA

The pampa/pamba river is very highly polluted by humans/piligirms due to faecal contamination, who visit Lord Ayyappa temple, and is a major halting point for the piligrims and the bacteria in the river is becoming totally resistant to antibiotics and can be transferred to other microbes and host of other animals and fish, if no remedial action is taken immediately. A research paper published early this year, stated.

Piligrims from various parts of India, visit, Sabarimala, many of them could be on various kinds of treatment and medication for various ailments.   With faecal contamination, the flowing water is contaminated with various toxins and microbes, the E-Coli bacteria become drug resistant at first and then other bacteria develop the same.  This is a very dangerous situation for the devotees and for the people residing in that zone.  This bacterium may move into other areas with the flowing streams and rivers, causing anxiety to the citizens.

E-coli are a bacterium is commonly found and treated with antibiotics. While E-coli is showing complete resistance at Pamba/Pampa to even broad spectrum antibiotics, it is a matter of time before other bacterium become resistant and this trait gets transferred from one bacterium to another by genetic recombination among bacteria.

It is very important that the Government must immediately act and control this menace. It is the duty of every piligrim visiting the Lord`s abode, keep himself healthy and the pampa/pamba river free from pollution and contamination by adopting simple hygienic practices.
